DURSLEY kick-off the new Northern Senior League season at home to Taverners on Saturday hoping a fresh approach will provide them with a turnaround in fortunes.

Having finished second-from-bottom of Division One last season, Town were facing relegation until Minsterworth’s resignation earned them a close-season reprieve.

With manager Terry Stevenson having stood down due to work commitments, Chris Dolbear is back at the helm for the club’s seventh successive season at this level.

Dursley must address last term’s chronic lack of goals, which undermined their relatively obdurate defence; and they appear intent on playing a more measured game now.

Certainly the new-look left-sided combination of Craig Bailey and Josh Hill impressed at Wotton last Saturday, while the team in general passed the ball much better.

An exodus of central defenders means Town must settle on a new partnership there, but the team definitely has the potential to improve upon last season’s performance.
