CHIPPING Sodbury seconds remain in second place in their WEPL Premier Two 2nd XI Division after a 23-run home win over Rockhampton.

Opener Will Christofi (73), Nic Anderson (37), James Newman (35) and Jake Reed (34) all contributed to a total of 255-6 before the Rams were reeled in by Ben Waldron (4-58) and Jarrod Campling (3-38).

Sodbury thirds, meanwhile, overcame Bristol & District Division Four leaders Bristol Civil Service by 25 runs to remain in the chase for the title.

Jacob Havard (34*) and Mike Pearson (30) battled away in Sodbury’s 170-8 before the visitors were rumbled for 145, Jack Thacker taking 3-26.

Sodbury fourths completed a clean sweep of wins for the club – there was no game for the fifths – with a 151-run triumph at Coalpit Heath thirds in Division Ten.

Dave Marshall’s 51 helped Sodbury reach 194-7 before Heath were shot out for 43 by skipper Dan Morgan (4-13 from 12) and Dave Gorman (2-5 from seven).
