YATE rider Luke Hedger had another mixed weekend in the British Supersport Championship at Cadwell Park.

The 18-year-old has moved up two places in the standings to 12th after finishing seventh in the first race and retiring in the second.

After requiring physio on his arm during the practice sessions, Hedger qualified on the second row of the grid for the first race on Sunday in sixth place with a time of 1.30.087.

Hedger made a really good start and was in a five-bike fight for fifth place until lap eight when a fellow rider pulled a fierce move on him, which caused him to lose momentum and lose two places.

He managed to get one place back straight away but could only manage seventh place.

This result qualified Hedger eighth for race two on Monday, which was reduced in laps due to rain.

It was mayhem from the start as five riders crashed out before the end of the first lap and Hedger also went out on lap two after setting the fastest lap when he had a big high-side on the last corner, but he got away with just a little bruising as he came down hard on both knees.

Out of 23 riders that started the race only 12 of them finished.

Hedger said: "Up until race two the weekend was going really well for me.

"I am feeling more confident as time goes on and despite the horrible conditions that faced us I felt really good.

"It's just a shame I didn't get the chance to finish race two."
