Golf: Preater produces his best in Cotswold Edge Medal

IT WAS a dry day for the August Medal, which produced some very good scoring.

Kevin Preater had one of his best rounds when he shot a nett 63 to win Division One, with Gary Swift second with a nett 66.

In Division Two, Mike Chappenden scored a nett 68 to win, with Paul Briggs second with 71.

In Division Three, Len White surprised himself with a nett 69 to win, with John Covell second with a Nett 71.

Results – Division One: 1 K Preater, 74-11=63; 2 G Swift, 73-7=66; 3 R Casy, 77-11=66.

Division Two: 1 M Chappenden, 85-17=68; 2 P Briggs, 86-15=71; 3 R Beale, 86-15=71.

Division Three: 1 L R White, 97-28=69; 2 J Covell, 98-27=71; 3 R J Wills, 91-19=72.

A fine day ensured a good turnout for the August Senior Medal, and once again, scoring was very good.

James Barnes hit the top spot when he won Division One with a nett 68, with Ken Hibbitt second, also with 68.

Results – Division One: 1 J W Barnes, 84-16=68; 2 K Hibbitt, 70-2=68; 3 J W Downes, 85-17=68.

Division Two: 1 R Rennicks, 91-24=67; 2 K Stannard, 90-19=71; 3 L R White, 98-27=71.

Ladies' Cream tea Bowmaker: 1 Mel Lee, Sandra Cutts and Jacki Emerson, 89 pts; 2 Pat Dunn, Lyn Smart and Megan Mills, 82 pts; 3 Mary Kowalczyk, Tina Lewis and Jenny Friend, 79 pts; 4 Julie Paulette, Irene Elford and Ilse Russell, 78 pts.

Ladies' Stableford: 1 Mel Lee, 43 pts; 2 Brenda Alway, 40 pts; 3 Heather Morgan, 40 pts.

Cotswold Edge Ladies played a very enjoyable friendly match against Painswick at the Edge, which was halved.

Results: Ilse Russell and Carol Griffiths lost to Angela Woodwick and Vickey Beney; Jacki Emerson and Dee Allen halved with S Taylor and Judith Powes; Angela Ryan and Heather Morgan lost to Ann Smiler and Sylvia Walker; Jessie Goodbrand and Brenda Alway beat Janet and Irene.

Junior Open: Best Gross Boys – Alex Godfree; Best Gross Girls - Hannah Brown-Pearce.

Nett: 1 Tom Smith, 67; 2 Scott Bridgeman, 72; 3 Matt Clout, 72.

Cotswold Edge Seniors lost two matches, one away against Cumberwell Park 3-2, and at home against Lilleybrook, also 3-2.

The Cotswold Edge B Team had a good win at home against Ross-on-Wye 3-2.

Results: T White and G Woodlands lost 3&2 to C Whitson and D Price; M Brealy and M Cutts beat C Bennion and M Whitmore 3&2; D Nurding and S Alvis halved with M Bradburn and S Philips; P Ashman and C Durber beat F Gallagher and M Hillier 4&3; D Munn and B Roberts beat R Gallagher and D Letman 3&2; C Sheppard and W Pendred lost to D Gear and A Paulton.
