Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division One

Dursley Town 4 Ruardean Hill Rangers 2

KYLE Ward struck twice and Matt Humphrey and Bruno Goncalves once each as Dursley maintained their excellent start to the new season with another fine victory.

Humphrey gave Town the lead when he converted Curtis Mills’ pull-back and Mills then nodded down for Ward to double the advantage.

Ruardean pulled a goal back before half-time, but Ward finished-off more good work from Mills right at the start of the second half to make it three.

Goncalves drilled in the fourth goal with the aid of a deflection before Ruardean scored their second and also had a man sent off late on.

Stroud League Division Two

Stroud Harriers 7 Dursley Town Res 1

DURSLEY got off to just about the worst possible start to the new season as Stroud Harriers were allowed to run riot during a torrid second half for the visitors.

Town competed well for the first half-hour, but conceded twice before the break and fell apart after briefly threatening a comeback at the beginning of the second period.

Harriers looked a frustrated side until Marc Roffe fired a spectacular 20-yard opener and tall front man Jeb Martin soon doubled the lead with a close-range header.

Dursley were unfortunate not to pull a goal back during a decent spell after half-time, but when Ryan Seville headed Harriers’ third the visitors simply gave up the ghost.

An abysmal decision that led to Tom Cole’s penalty did not help, but Daniel Webb was allowed to waltz through before scoring the fifth with a wonderful finish.

Thiala Clark pulled a goal back with a brave header from fellow substitute James Dimon’s cross, but Harriers added another two through Jordan Cooke and could easily have had more.

Dursley: K Watson; W Taylor (A Baker 46), D French, D Clark, J Bartman; Antony Nash, R Swift, G Penlington, J Warner (T Clark 70); J Bennett (J Dimon 70), J Williams.

Goals: T Clark (75).

* Dursley thirds fared little better in Division Five as they went down 4-1 at their Brockworth Albion counterparts.
