FOREST Green are dishing out free football shirts to children in an effort to attract more fans to the New Lawn.

More than 500 school children in the Stroud district are being offered a free replica football shirt to mark the club’s 125th anniversary.

During a season in which they are commemorating generations from the past, Forest Green are looking to attract the next generation of supporters as part of a long term plan to make the club more sustainable.

Every child beginning in year four this September at a school in the district is eligible to receive a shirt which normally retails at £35.

Forest Green have teamed up with kit supplier Puma to produce a new green and black hooped kit which is marked with a commemorative badge to highlight the club’s anniversary.

As well as a free shirt, all of the children involved will receive a voucher entitling them to attend an upcoming league game of their choice.
