PERHAPS Thornbury Running Club members are all saving themselves for one of the many half marathons to be run this weekend and in subsequent weeks, but there were just seven taking part in parkrun events last weekend, three of whom ran new personal best times.

Jack Grudgings was the sole representative at Chipping Sodbury, finishing in 11th place in 20:44.

At Little Stoke Garry Slater ran the 5k in a time of 19:24 and Kevin Arnold in 21:37, but Andrew Darton, in 18:17, shaved a whole second from his previous best and Daniel Harding reduced his time by 15 seconds to record 19:11.

Since February this year Harding has completed 11 parkruns at Little Stoke, with seven personal bests.

On Sunday it was the turn of the under-14s in the 2k Junior parkrun at Little Stoke.

Thomas Dalton just missed out on a new record, with a time of 9:48, but Eve Slater had the best result of the week, smashing her previous best by one minute and 11 seconds with a new time of 12:36.

The Mob Match against Chepstow Harriers today (Thursday ) has been postponed.

Entries are open for the Club's Oldbury Power Station 10-mile race on September 14, but it will also be possible to enter on the day. For more details see thornburyrunningclub.co.uk or the club Facebook page.
