Selsley and Rodborough (83) lost to Kingswood Village (184-7) by 101 runs
VISITS to the delightful Selsley and Rodborough ground often mean surprises.
The 40- foot drop from cover point to mid wicket is one, the invisibility from the pitch of the lower boundary is another.
Often Selsley are short of payers so this year Kingswood's Mike Barnes batted and bowled for the other side.
This year there was a new feature: the grass had not been cut.
The result was no boundary in the Kingswood innings until the 15th over and the score just 27-2.
Eventually, Steve Barnes (26), Kevin Morgan (57) and Ben Foxwell (41*) solved the problem with fours by the aerial route, not a single one in the total of 184-7 being hit along the ground.
The hosts fared even worse, scoring just five fours in a total of 83 all out, the wickets being shared by no less than seven bowlers.
