Clanfield 1 Tytherington Rocks 3

TYTHERINGTON Rocks' revival continued at Clanfield, where they recorded an excellent win with goals from Ashley McDowell, Safian Skupinski and 16-year-old Zayn Alime.

After winning their first game of the season the previous week, Rocks travelled to Clanfield with three players making their debuts having been signed only recently and not having time to practice with the team.

Within six minutes of the start Rocks took the lead when McDowell took the ball from the left wing on to the edge of the penalty box and fired an angled shot past the Clanfield keeper into the far corner of the net.

Clanfield were finding it difficult to contain Rocks' forwards, who were playing good passing football and stretching their defence.

However, when the Rocks gave the ball away on the edge of their own penalty box, it allowed Jamie MacDonagh to lob their keeper for the equaliser in the 26th minute against the run of play.

The first half ended at 1-1 but Rocks missed two great chances to improve their score when chances were created but not finished.

With ten minutes of the second half gone Rocks took the lead when Alime passed to the left for Skupinski to take the ball into the box before hammering in a great left-footed shot low to the keeper's left for number two.

In the 73rd minute Jim Brock, playing on the right wing, collected the ball just inside the Clanfield half and beat three defenders on a mazy run before firing just wide of the far post.

On the opposite wing McDowell was also creating chances with a dazzling display of ball control and defending when necessary.

With manager Luke Cabaj making subs, Brock was moved to the left wing where he again made a good run, beating two defenders before crossing into the six yard box for Alime to fire home in the last minute of the game to complete the scoring.

This was a great team performance and manager Lukasz Cabaj can look forward to a more settled side in the coming games, although he is still looking to bring in more players to strengthen his squad.

Rocks play North Leigh Reserves on Saturday at The Hardwicke Playing Fields, 3pm, while their reserves visit Downend, 2.30pm.
