CASTLE Combe race circuit was once again taken over on Saturday by thousands of rally fans as they flocked to the UK’s largest premier rally show.

Dursley's very own Peter Hedges took along his stunning Opel Manta to entertain the Rally Day crowds on track.

A few problems in the morning with an alternator issue meant the only track time he had was in the afternoon.

Hedges now plans to have the engine rebuilt before the Regency Stages in November, a two-day event which takes place in and around the Bath & West Showground.

The final rally of 2014 will be a Christmas outing to Longmoor army training camp near Bordon for the Longmoor Loco Stages.

Next year may see the Manta tackle some stages a bit further afield with maybe a rally in Ireland or Belgium.

Young Welshman Elfyn Evans made a star appearance at this year’s show.

The M-Sport Ford Fiesta WRC driver was on hand to answers questions about his first season competing in a full WRC calendar; signing autographs and for a few lucky people taking them for a spin around the Castle Combe circuit.

The highlight of the show is always the running of the featured rally stage around the circuit.

This year boasted one of the best line ups with approximately 75 stunning cars spanning some four decades of rally, and with former rally stars like Markku Alen, Harri Toivonen, Markko Martin behind the wheel the crowds were kept entertained.
