YATE teenager Dan Healey has put himself in pole position to win the novice class at the Herefordshire Raceway Open Grand Prix Championship.

The 16-year-old came home with four trophies at the most recent round to go two points clear at the top of the standings with the season finale taking place during the weekend of October 12-13.

Healey recorded his best ever qualifying position for the first race, starting on the grid second overall after narrowly missing out on pole, and he finished second.

This gave him his first ever overall Championship trophy and a first place novice trophy.

In the second race he qualified third and finished in that position to take the third place overall trophy and another first place novice trophy.

Healey scored 29 points in his first race and 28 in his second - his best results to date

He is also fifth out of 37 drivers overall in the Championship.
