NEWLY-wed Dursley Running Club members Gareth and Sarah Bradbury ran the Verona Marathon to kick off their honeymoon.

This was after they had run a 5k on the morning of their wedding the previous weekend with Gareth Bradbury recording a personal best (PB) on that occasion.

Results: G Bradbury 03:27 S Bradbury 04:15 (provisional).

On a bus weekend for the Dursley RC, Neil Parry showed he is on good form in the run up to the Abingdon Marathon, returning to the land of his fathers to run a sub 90-minute Cardiff Half Marathon.

Parry, who has been running erratically in training due to an injury, ran the first 10K at 06:40 pace.

He then had to grit his teeth, slowing over the next four miles but picked it up in the finale, demonstrating the depth of his fitness.

Parry was accompanied by new Dursley members Andy Dove, competing in his first ever race, and Naomi Stevens, who completed her third half marathon.

After running with the club for a couple of weeks Stevens ran a personal best, 23 minutes faster than her first-ever half in March and five minutes quicker than Tewkesbury in May.

Dove was unsure what he was going to achieve and was delighted to have run close to under two hours.

Results: Neil Parry 653rd 01:28:49; Andy Dove 7483rd 02:00:24; Naomi Stephens 13181st 02:27:44 (PB).

Shona Darley ran the Bournemouth Marathon. Eunning with a friend who struggled after mile 15, Darley nursed her to the finish line and was 1,646th in 04:59:15.

A team of seven Dursley runners made it to the Badminton Horseless Trial.

The course over the horse jumps really test the runners' fitness and ability to recover from the exertion of getting over each jump.

Veteran Tony Wooldridge showed a fair turn of pace over the jumps, finishing first for Dursley and 12th overall in just over the hour for the nine-mile event.

Fran Amigoni had good outing, coming in 35th, just six minutes behind husband Ben.

In the spirit of the team event, Brad Johnson, Mark Brasier and Rachael Johnson all crossed the line together.

Results: Tony Wooldridge 12th 01:04:12; Ben Amigoni 20th 01:09:55; Francesca Amigoni 35th 01:15:22; Brad Johnson 45th 01:19:28; Mark Brasier 46th 01:19:28; Rachel Johnson 47th 01:19:28.

Not to be outdone Andre Trusswell was in the Lake District running the 3X3000 Ultra Trail, a 50-mile event taking in the heights of Scarfell Pike, Helvellyn and Skiddaw.

Competing against an international field, littered with professional and sponsored athletes, Truswell finished in a very creditable 74th position and 34th senior male in a time of 12:28:54.

Chris Young finished off his triathlon season with the Last Tri at Lydney.

He improved by over 5 minutes from his last outing in May on a similar course, although this event's bike ride started with eight miles uphill, not playing to Young’s strengths.

Young’s gains were mainly made on foot ,knocking four minutes off his spring time on exactly the same course, a result that shows not just improved running fitness but improved endurance with the run being the third discipline to be tackled.

Result: Chris Young: Swim (400m) 8:59; Bike 55.41 (20km); Run 28.23(5k).

The club runs from Dursley Rugby Club on Tuesday nights. Meet at 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start.
