Fairford Town 5 Tytherington Rocks 0

TYTHERINGTON Rocks produced a disappointing performance at Fairford to lose heavily.

Rocks were under-strength and manager Lukacz Cabaj was unable to field his full squad with three players pulling out at the last minute, leaving him with only one substitute.

It took Fairford 22 minutes before they breached the Rocks' makeshift defence when Jack Allan scored from close-in.

This was closely followed three minutes later when Callum Marshall beat Rocks keeper Chris Mann after a sweeping move out-numbered the defence.

On the stroke of half-time Allan scored his second and Town's third.

With only ten minutes gone in the second half Town went further in front when a corner on the left taken by Matt Boucher was headed firmly into the net by Aaron Dale, who was left unmarked for number four.

Rocks were playing better in the second half but their final ball was not forthcoming.

Only Manns, Shomari Sengor, Ashley McDowell and James Brock played to their full potential, with many passes going astray and players giving the ball away with poor control.

Fairford scored their fifth and final goal in the 83rd minute, again from a corner which was met on the edge of the six yard by Ben Hillerby, who hooked it past keeper Manns.

In the last few minutes keeper Manns saved the Rocks from even bigger defeat with two excellent saves, and his keeping throughout the game was first class.

Rocks are at home on Saturday to Clanfield, 3pm.

Tytherington Reserves lost their GFA Senior Amateur Cup game at Greyfriars Athletic, going down 6-5 on penalties after it finished 2-2 after 90 minutes.

They have no game this coming Saturday.
