Thornbury Baptist 0 Edge Church 2

WITH significant absentees it was always going to be a difficult game for Thornbury Baptist against the newly-promoted Edge Church.

With James Cooke getting married, Phil Loadwick was stand-in captain on his 150th appearance.

Edge Church scored two early goals; the first started with a pacey attack down the left creating a chance which was taken well into the corner.

Their second was a great finish by the winger, who took on two players and smashed the ball inside the front post.

The Baps found it difficult to get off the starting blocks with keeper Dave Lane making brilliant saves early on.

Baps started to dominate in the second half as Edge looked to hurt them on the counter.

With the late domination came chances for the Baps; Steve Nash took it round three players excellently before being fouled.

The ball then fell to Ash Tuck, who was through on goal with just the keeper, but the referee pulled it back for the foul as he scored.

With time running out a pass from Steve Clare set Tuck clean through on goal, however he could only chip the ball into the keeper’s hands.

Nick Tymko and Sam Alker looked dangerous from set pieces but the Baps couldn’t get the ball into the net.
