LEWIS Haldane has left Yate Town by mutual consent, the club has announced through their Twitter account today.

The former Bristol Rovers and Port Vale striker was left out of the side in Tuesday night’s 2-1 defeat at Merthyr Town in Division One South and West of the Southern League and his future has been a constant source of speculation this season.

Haldane, who works for Yate chairman Colin Pick at Picksons, has turned down moves to Paulton Rovers and Chippenham Town in recent weeks.

He made a shock return to football when he signed for Yate in the summer of 2013 having retired from the professional game through injury in October 2012.

Haldane was Yate’s top scorer this season with eight goals in 15 games, while he found the net 30 times in 41 appearances during his first campaign at the club.
