Berkeley Division Two
Dursley Ladies 1 Badminton 3
DURSLEY were depleted by Leanne Smith having damaged her knee recently, although she pluckily played in goal against Badminton in the absence of the regular keepers.
The visitors took an early lead with a shot from the right but Dursley came back and equalised when Megan Jones split the Badminton defence with a through pass to Ayley Moir, who took the ball on and cracked it past the keeper.
Badminton went ahead again when a quickly taken free hit caught the Dursley defence unprepared.
Although play was even, Badminton went 3–1 ahead when a shot came off Smith’s pads, onto a post and into goal.
After the break Dursley strove hard to come back from the deficit and forced the visiting keeper into making good saves as well as missing a few opportunities. The home defence stood firm with Emily Campbell excellent and Stacey Smith, on early return from maternity leave, breaking up many attacks.
Once again Dursley failed to get at least the one point they deserved on their play and determination.
