DANNY Coles insists his Forest Green ‘gamble’ is paying-off after he signed a new contract to remain at the Conference club until the summer of 2016.

The 33-year-old Bristol-born defender arrived at the New Lawn from Exeter on an initial one-year deal in August.

He has made 26 league appearances and scored once - against former club Bristol Rovers.

Coles said: “I’m pleased to get it done as I’ve enjoyed my time since I’ve been here.

“We’re doing well so I’m chuffed to bits. It is nice to make sure you’ve got a contract for next year.

“I could have chosen to stay at Exeter and I took the gamble of dropping down. I think the gamble is going well so far.”
