Highworth Town 2 Tytherington Rocks 1

TYTHERINGTON Rocks played their much-delayed Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup match at Highworth Town and welcomed back Jack Smythe to the team for the first time this season.

For the first twenty minutes, Rocks took the game to Highworth and should have had a penalty when Smythe was brought down after ten minutes.

However, they continued to put Town defence under pressure with strong running by Tom Brennan and Smythe giving the home side no let up, but the final ball did not produce too many problems for the home keeper.

In the 22nd minute, Rocks defender Mason Poole was red carded after being booked for a late tackle just outside the penalty box.

Two minutes from half-time, Town took the lead when a cross on the left was met by Town striker McGrory who gave Rocks keeper Phil Mills no chance from close in.

With Rocks down to ten men for the remainder of the game, they still gave the home side plenty of problems as they continued to go forward and got the equalizer in the 59th minute from the penalty spot when Brennan was brought down and Joe Walters converted the kick.

But Highworth got their second and winning goal in the 75th minute when Chris Jackson shot home from close in.

It was a much improved Rocks performance with all players fully committed and probably one of their best games of the season against a team from the Premier League.
