DURSLEY RFC’s Under-12s played out a hard-fought victory over a strong Painswick side last weekend and outscored them by five tries to three over the four quarters period of the match.

It was not the best of surfaces to play on. A heavy pitch made for difficult conditions though the Dursley back division took their opportunities well when they came about over the course of the game.

And this included a fine solo effort from Ryan Powell to grab a try for the youngsters.

Among the backs, there were also good performances and strong running from Sam Rabjohns and a fine display in defence from Ozzy Bury at scrum half in the second half who put together a string of excellent tackles on the Painswick attacks.

Up front, the Dursley scrum held its own throughout the match and more good tackling from Sam Butcher, Emily Haynes and Jack Woollams aided the Dursley defence.

The victory was, more than anything, a whole squad performance with less experienced players doing well. Cameron in particular got involved a lot in the action which went a way to helping secure the victory.

The Dursley Under-12s have a break this weekend for half-term but are back in action with a local derby on February 22 when they travel to Thornbury RFC before another away match against Gordano on March 1 and a home fixture with Clifton the following weekend.
