YATE Town manager Rob Cousins and his assistant Michael Meaker have been sacked from their jobs at the club.

Bristol-born, 44-year-old Cousins, who played for Bath City, Yeovil Town and Forest Green Rovers before finding his way to Yate after spells with Paulton Rovers, Mangotsfield and Tiverton Town, is believed to have heard the bad news about his job and that of Meaker from chairman Colin Pick on Tuesday evening.

Director of Football Nigel Hawkins and Mickey Bell are expected to be in charge of the club for their Evo-Stick Southern Division One South and West clash with Shortwood United at Lodge Road on Saturday.

The last match that Cousins and Meaker were charge of at Yate was the 1-0 defeat at Cinderford Town on Saturday.

A statement about the issue is expected from Yate Town on Wednesday lunchtime.
