THORNBURY, led enthusiastically by Sian Fuller, continue to progress following a disappointing season.

In this latest encounter, Thornbury led on two occasions but were unable to hold on to a 2-1 lead and gain a deserved victory.

Thornbury took the lead when an Ellie Morgan shot was seized on by Amanda McGarry-Ponting who expertly deflected the ball past the keeper.

The visitors were well served in defence by Tess Wheatley, Elaine Arnold and Lauren Upham whilst Izzy Hunter, Ella Wheatley and Lucy Woodruff combined effectively to create a couple of chances for Alex Arnold and Poppy Woolnough.

Bethan Brown pulled off some goal saving saves to deny Westberries and was unlucky to be beaten with the home sides equalising second goal.

Thornbury's second goal was a well-taken effort by Poppy Woolnough whose powerful shot following a Sian Fuller pass gave the keeper no chance. Thornbury have a free date on Saturday following Clifton fourths decision not to accept promotion.

THORNBURY'S goal was scored by nifty at fifty Tracey Jones whose powerful shot gave the Dursley keeper no chance.

Thornbury were well served in defence by club chairperson Sarah Newman and secretary Angela Greenslade whilst Jenny Arnold, Megan McLaughlin, Rosie Liddington, Laura Haywood and Megan Allen showed the clubs future is in safe hands and Sarah Brearley and Sarah Brownhill constructed a number of defence splitting movements.

Holly Gardner and Rachel Underwood were always a danger upfront when in possession.

Goalie Hannah Kemp continues to perform well in goal and pulled off some fine saves.Thornbury host Pucklechurch on Saturday at Castle School which starts at 12noon.
