Dursley Town 1 Star FC 0

CARL Bailey’s headed goal right at the start of the second half gave battling Dursley three more crucial points in their bid to avoid relegation from Northern Senior One.

Following a forgettable first half, Town boss Chris Dolbear introduced brothers Aaron and Karl Nash, available due to regular side Brimscombe not having a game.

And the move paid instant dividends as Karl Nash sent over a superb cross that midfielder Bailey guided into the net for the all-important first goal of the afternoon.

Star huffed and puffed in search of a leveller, but the closest they came was when the hosts put their bodies on the line in three goalmouth scrambles from corners.

ASH Pearce and Wayne Taylor struck second-half goals as Dursley came from behind to earn a deserved victory against their Stonehouse counterparts at the Rec.

Brian Durnan’s men had the better of the game throughout, but fell behind to a terrific first-time shot direct from a corner with 20 minutes played.

However, Nathan’s Taylor’s first involvement as a second-half substitute was to send over an inviting cross from the left that Pearce converted at the far post.

The winner arrived 15 minutes from time when Jordan Warner teed up Wayne Taylor 12 yards out and he beat the Stonehouse goalkeeper with a hard low drive.
