Free golf lessons for beginners

THORNBURY Golf Centre is holding free golf coaching taster sessions for beginners on the March 31 (9am-5pm).

Free Golf Coaching is an English Golf Union and English Ladies' Golf Association initiative, which has been developed to help people get into golf.

Beginners of any age, gender or background who would like to experience golf for the first time can simply register with a participating venue and receive a free session with a PGA Professional.

Golf balls and clubs are provided free of charge and participants all receive information on a variety of initiatives aimed at continuing involvement in golf.

The Free Golf Coaching campaign has now been running for a number of years and has introduced thousands of beginners to golf and golf clubs.

Indeed, 80 percent of participants in last year's nationwide initiative said they had participated in golf again since then, with 70 percent going to a driving range, 51 percent playing rounds of golf, 43 percent having further lessons and 13 percent actually joining a club.

The sessions are open to everyone.
