IT was a case of sunshine and showers last week at Cotswold Edge Golf Club both on the weather and results front.
The senior team battled horrendous wind and rain in their home match against Cirencester but were rewarded for their efforts with a 5-1 win, although they were less successful in their visit to The Bristol later in the week, losing 5-2.
The ladies were also up against the elements with the Alliance One. They visited Tewkesbury where they lost 9-5, while the ladies friendly match at Minchinhampton was reduced to nine holes with the hosts winning 3-1.
Michelle Craker continued her successful form to win the EWGA Medal with a nett 71 followed by Mary Kowalczyk, 72, and Julie Cruickshank on 75.
The weather was a little kinder to the Stragglers team who visited Filton but unfortunately that did not extend to the results where they lost 3.5–1.5.
The June Medal was well supported with several scores under par. Tom Reynolds and Ross Casey finished on 71s in Division One.
Results. Division 1 – Tom Reynolds nett 71, Ross Casey 71 & Mark Harris 72; Division 2 - David Ryan 69, Keith Vick 70 & Terry Thornell 71, Division 3 – John Newns 68, Bill Hogg 72, Alan Taylor 73.
The sunshine encouraged some impressive scores for the Lawson Trophy Stableford Pairs competition with a hole in one for Gary Merchant on the 11th hole.
The winners were Tony Mansfield and Martin Cutts, who had 46 on countback, from Warren Pendred and Tim Griffith.
