BRISTOL City will be on the road to Yorkshire on their return to the Championship on Saturday August 8 after the Football League fixtures were announced on Wednesday.

City are at Sheffield Wednesday for the first game of the new season before a midweek date with League Two Luton Town.

They return to Championship action with an Ashton Gate clash against Brentford on Saturday August 15 before a massive midweek clash on Tuesday August 18 at home to Leeds United.

And it does not get any easier the following Saturday when City travel to the North East to take on Middlesbrough before returning to Ashton Gate on Saturday August 29 to play relegated Premiership outfit Burnley.

Other big fixtures for City include cross-border derbies with Cardiff City in the Welsh capital on Saturday October 24 and back at Ashton Gate on Saturday March 5.

The Christmas schedule pits City at home to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday December 19, and home again on Boxing Day to Charlton Athletic before travelling to Burnley on Monday December 28.

The last match of the season will see City engaged in the return against QPR on Saturday May 7.
