SLIMBRIDGE AFC have confirmed the appointments of Dan Irvine and George Parrott as joint reserve team managers.
And the two new managers will begin with an open pre-season training session for both the reserve and third teams this evening (Thursday).
All players are welcome to attend the session and can meet at Wisloe Road at 6.30pm, Meanwhile, the Slimbridge first team friendly fixture against Vanarama National League neighbours Forest Green Rovers on July 25 has changed kick off time from 1pm to 2pm.
But a major issue has flared up after the final make-up of the Evo-Stik Southern League South and West One, where Slimbridge have been promoted to next season, was finally decided.
There is now a lot of concern among clubs about the vast distances they will need to travel and the costs involved in fulfilling away fixtures.
Since Slimbridge were promoted to the league, changes have been made to the tournament’s constitution following Clevedon Town’s relegation after failing to meet ground grading requirements.
These initially saw Burnham, Flackwell Heath and Marlow were transferred into the division, while, at the same time, Fleet Town and Petersfield were transferred from the South and West League into the Central Division.
This decision by the Football Association resulted in Flackwell Heath declining promotion due to the increased costs of travel. They opted to remain in the Hellenic Premier Division.
Redhill, based in Surrey, were also offered the place in the South and West League but also declined.
Winchester City, who finished second to Petersfield in the Wessex Premier League were promoted and accepted the move into the Swans’ division.
But now the geographical spread has fired a fierce debate among clubs as the league now stretches from Buckinghamshire to Hampshire and down to Devon.
The final lineup of the Evo-Stik Southern League South and West One Division is AFC Totton, Banbury United, Bashley, Bishops Cleeve, Bridgwater Town, Burnham, Cinderford Town, Didcot Town, Evesham United, Larkhall Athletic, Mangotsfield United, Marlow, North Leigh, Shortwood United, Slimbridge, Swindon Supermarine, Taunton Town, Tiverton Town, Wantage Town, Wimborne Town, Winchester City, and Yate Town.
