WEEK seven of the Slimbridge Front Pin Summer Skittle League saw the Geriatrics return to winning ways with an 86-pin victory over the Bowmen.
It continues the Geriatrics' lead at the top of the table with five wins out of their six matches.
The first half saw the eventual winners commence with a strong first leg which set the tone for the game. Despite Richard Day hitting 56 for the Bowmen and his team pulling the defect back to nine-pins in the fourth leg, two spares, a 10-spare from Howard Stockman and an 11-spare from Len Holder in his score of 64 allowed the Geriatrics to open up a 33-pin first half advantage.
Despite winning the first leg of the second half the Bowmen were unable to maintain their early advantage; quickly losing the lead they were unable to recover. Nigel Winfield hit an 11-spare in his score of 46 to see the Geriatrics home by 53-pins.
Snorts FC remain within six-points of the leaders after a 34-pin victory over Slimbridge RBL.
The latter looked a chance for taking more points off their opponents; having won the first half in their previous meeting.
A strong opening four legs saw Slimbridge RBL hold a 10-pin advantage; however Snorts FC fought back in the last four legs and with Gareth Markey hitting 52 managed to open up a 27-pin advantage.
The second half saw Slimbridge RBL again start strongly, leading by 10-pins after two legs, despite Richard Fry hitting a 10-spare for Snorts FC. However Snorts FC fought back, and despite Trudy Barnfield hitting a 13-spare in her total of 60.
Peter Hill hit a nine-spare for Snorts FC in the seventh leg to take the half by seven-pins.
Shake Hands remain two-points behind second placed Snorts FC after they took maximum points with a 46-pin victory over The Dons.
Despite Scott Price commencing with a 15-spare for The Dons, who opened up a 15-pin first leg advantage.
The lead switched hands and when Rich Brimble hit a 13-spare in the sixth leg for The Dons; they held a solitary pin advantage.
However two strong legs by Shake Hands, along with two low scoring legs by The Dons saw Shake Hands hold a 24-pin advantage.
The second half saw The Dons hold the lead for the first six legs and looked set for two-points with Darren Noble hitting 56.
However with Mike Sims hitting a 15-spare in his total of 55 and Robert Sims matching his score, two strong legs final legs from Shake Hands again saw them home by 12-pins.
