Thornbury 276-9 beat Weston Super Mare 236 all out by 40 runs

THORNBURY secured an excellent 40-run victory over Weston super Mare on Saturday as Richard Trotman shined with bat and ball.
And it was a must win game for Thornbury to stay in the title race.
With Trotman winning the toss and the sun being at its hottest, Weston were put into the field.
Thornbury openers Dan Davis and Danny Slade went off at a blistering rate and put a hundred runs on the scoreboard within the first ten overs.
Davis was first to go on 53 and Sam Summerfield was next in. He looked in good shape but got caught going for a six.
It was left for Trotman to push the total higher with a great innings.
He was caught behind on 49, and playing in the true spirit of the game,  walked without even looking at the umpire.
The Lezar brothers took to the crease, and pushed the score up 250, with a quick fire 50 partnership.
And as the innings closed, Harry Wormwell and Tom Bradley nudged the total score to 276-9.
The total was, though, maybe 50 runs short and on a great batting wicket.
When Weston came out to bat, Thornbury were confident.
They have been  on top fielding form this season, with specialist fielders who train for specific positions.
This has been a fundamental step change in the way that Thornbury have fielded so far during the season - and Saturday was no different, with precise and fast over-the-wicket throws making it easy for the wicket keeper to take the bails off.
Weston’s openers had to work hard to find the gaps and set off with the target of 276 in their sights. Trotman picked up five wickets from his spell as Weston ended on 236 all out.
