THE FAMOUS black and white hoops of the Barbarians are set to grace Kingsholm once again as the invitational side will play Gloucester Rugby on Tuesday November 17.

It will be the third time that the Barbarians have played at Kingsholm in the past few years. In 2008 and 2012 they played Ireland, however, this Autumn's game will see Gloucester have the privilege of playing against some of the world's biggest names.

Already confirmed for the fixture are five Springboks - Bakkies Botha, Pat Lambie, Victor Matfield, Tendai Mtawarira and Jean de Villiers. The quintet boast 416 international caps between them.

More star names set to be confirmed in the next few weeks as well as the make up of the coaching team.

In the case of Botha and Matfield, both of whom who have already announced their retirements, it will be a final opportunity to see them play in this country as they look to sign off on a winning note.

Gloucester Rugby CEO Stephen Vaughan was delighted to confirm that the famous invitational side will be featuring at Kingsholm once again.

"It gives me great pleasure to be able to announce that the Barbarians will be making their third appearance here at Kingsholm since 2008.

"The two previous occasions have seen them take on Ireland here, but this game will see Gloucester Rugby facing what is bound to be a star studded squad.

"We've worked hard to establish Kingsholm's credentials as a top class venue capable of hosting international rugby, the four forthcoming Rugby World Cup fixtures are evidence of that.

"But this game will be a very special occasion and I'm sure that it will be a career highlight for a number of our players and an occasion that our supporters will relish.”
