RISING cycling teenager Pfeiffer Georgi will become an Olympian next week after landing a place with Team GB at the European Youth Olympics in Tbilisi, Georgia.
It is the biggest honour this year for the Berkeley-based 14-year-old, who attends the Castle School in Thornbury with her sibling cycling brother Etienne, after she won her first win of the year in the Under 16 Girls category of British Cycling’s National Youth Circuit Series at Milton Keynes.
She will be taking part in the Youth Olympics, which begin with the Opening Ceremony on Sunday, with competition starting on Monday.
Georgi is part of a six-strong Team GB cycling team that also includes 15-year-old Somerset based Lauren Dolan and rising Welsh youngster Jessica Roberts, who is expected to be part of her country’s 2018 Commonwealth Games squad on Australia’s Gold Coast.
The cycling event at the Youth Olympics will consist of a 10km individual time trial and a 47km road race where the British girls will be racing against teams from 36 other countries in temperatures which are forecast to be near a blistering 38 degrees!
Her place in the British team comes hot on the heels of her bronze podium places in both the recent National Youth Omnium final in Wolverhampton and the National Youth  Road Circuit Championships in Paisley, Glasgow.
Meanwhile, brother, Etienne, 16, is also ensuring his sister does not steal all the limelight by leading the National Junior Road Series after the first five rounds.
With just three more events to go in in the competition, which will be in
Milton Keynes, Scarborough and at the Junior Tour of Wales around the valleys of South Wales, Etienne is in a great position to take gold.
Meanwhile, Etienne competed in Bristol’s Grand Prix and was the youngest rider in the Elite race. He also took a place on the podium after winning the sprint lap in that event.
