Gloucestershire County League Division One
Cam 216-8 v Kingsholm 151-5 (38 overs) – match abandoned

CAM were thwarted by the elements and the league rules as their Division One clash with Kingsholm ended in an unsatisfactory abandonment.
And that now leaves their hopes of taking second position in the league out of their hands.
On what was a swelteringly hot and humid day, Cam opted to bat first and made a good start until Stuart Newman skied a short ball as he attempted a pull.
The Holloway brothers, Adam and Ben, batted carefully, whilest also looking to find the boundary where possible, and began to form a formidable partnership before Adam was caught at slip for 40.
Ben Holloway began to find some rhythm and was ably supported by Jake Dolbear who played the spin bowlers well for 24 before he was stumped. Holloway passed 50fifty before an innocuous looking ball popped off a length with the batsman only able to serve up a simple caught and bowled for Burrows.
By the time Holloway departed for 61, Cam had also lost captain Pete Hall and Adam Ford cheaply as they looked to up the run rate.
It was left to Tom Deakin and Ryan Western to push Cam towards a competitive score, Deakin making 40 before he departed late on and Western ending on an unbeaten 27 thanks to some lusty blows as Cam concluded on 216-8.
Kingsholm started positively and picked up early boundaries off the bowling of George Dolling and Alasdair Longden.
Cam were denied an early breakthrough when a loud shout for lbw from Dolling was turned down and a tough diving chance was missed in the slips. Western, whose nine overs yielded just 22 runs, eventually made the breakthrough as Dolbear held on well to a catch behind the stumps.
A break in proceedings them followed, with thunder and lightning resulting in the players leaving the field.
After the storm had passed, the umpires adjudged that the game could only continue until 7.30pm, making it unlikely that the full 45 overs would be bowled.
Kingsholm looked to pursue their target before the cut-off point until Hall made the important breakthrough as he dismissed Kingsholm opener Veits for 63. Dolling followed this up by clean bowling Harris in the next over, and, after the same bowler had clung on to a towering catch off the bowling of Alex Ballard, the complexion of the game had changed completely.
With time running out, Kingsholm opted to bat out the remaining time and settle for a no result, ultimately leaving neither team completely satisfied with the anticlimactic end to proceedings.
Cam’s hope to end a successful season on a high as they welcome Redmarley on Saturday.
l Cam will also be hosting their annual six -a- side tournament on Sunday where competitive cricket and many family friendly activities will be on offer for anyone wishing to attend and support the event.
