GLOUCESTER’S Billy Twelvetrees, as expected, has been dealt the blow of missing the cut for England’s Rugby World Cup squad.
National coach Stuart Lancaster has gone for Saracens’ Brad Barritt and Bath’s Jonathan Joseph, who were expected to be the top choices, plus Bath’s cross-code convert Sam Burgess and rising star Henry Slade, from Exeter.
Twelvetrees was on the bench for the two warm-up matches against France, and, while Dursley’s Ben Morgan and Gloucester wing Jonny May will get ready for the biggest tournament in the game, Twelvetrees will return to Kingsholm to prepare for the new season.
