Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division One

Dursley Town 1 Ramblers 3

DURSLEY effectively surrendered the points in the opening stages of the game for the second week in a row to remain pointless and bottom of the early-season table.

Four goals down to Avonvale at half-time a week earlier, Town this time conceded twice in the opening ten minutes and shipped a third shortly before the break.

Ramblers might have had more, but it was the hosts that scored the only other goal of the game, centre-back Matt Workman heading in a Kyle Ward free-kick.

Curtis Mills, Jay Redbond and Maz Meta all saw good efforts fly just wide late on, but the home side were never seriously in contention for a point.

Dursley: P Dykes; S Hobbs, C Wilkins, B Matthews, M Workman; J Redbond, A Baker (C Bailey 60, C McDonald 75), C Mills; K Ward, M Booth, B Goncalves (M Meta 70).

Goals: Workman (80).

Stroud League Division Five

Dursley Town 3rds 1 Wickwar Wanderers 5

ALL three Dursley sides were anchored to the foot of their respective early-season league tables on Saturday night following this heavy defeat to Wickwar at the Rec.

Of more concern to Town, however, would be the issue that there were potentially more reserve-team players in this line-up than there were third-team regulars.

Wickwar had already created numerous chances before finally taking the lead, although the lively James Ellis soon levelled from Liam Kitchen’s through ball.

However, the visitors took advantage of some generous defending to move 3-1 up by half-time and two more goals in the second half rounded-off an easy victory.

Dursley: K Watson; D Minett, T Clark, J Aldridge, P Cook; J Minett, L Matthews, M Cole (A Griffith 46); J Hill, L Kitchen, J Ellis (W Hazelwood 65).

Goals: Ellis (30).
