ROVERS moved back into the top half of the table after a thrilling 4-3 win at Morecambe on Saturday.
Mansell got the Gas off to the best possible start by putting us ahead just before the half-hour mark with a well taken strike.
Morecambe’s equaliser before half-time came as a blow but Bodin restored Rovers’ advantage shortly after the break. He started and finished an incisive move that proved once again he is becoming a useful and influential member of the team with an eye for goal.
Taylor also grabbed a goal to give the Pirates what looked like a comfortable 3-1 lead with just over 30 minutes left to play.
More goal action was still to come, however, as Morecambe quickly pulled a goal back to ensure we could not rest on our laurels.
A Harrison penalty allowed us to breathe easier but there was still time for one more goal as Morecambe pulled another back with a penalty of their own, but the Pirates held on for three points.
It capped a successful week on the road, following the brilliant 3-0 victory at Hartlepool the previous Tuesday.
We showed impressive firepower on Saturday and constantly looked a threat with some exciting forward play. However, leaking three goals is a concern and a surprise given the return of McChrystal.
Hopefully it will be nothing more than a blip and we can tighten up at the back.
The result moved the Gas up to 12th in the table, three points off a play-off place.
Rovers made it three wins in a row after overcoming Wycombe Wanderers in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Tuesday at the Mem.
Goals from Taylor and Easter secured the passage through to the area quarter-finals.
Rovers were due to face Wycombe again at the Mem on Saturday, but now have a blank weekend after the fixture was called off due to international call-ups, with Lockyer and Harrison featuring for Wales Under-21s and Gosling representing Gibraltar.
