WOTTON-Under-Edge Ladies first team lost 2-0 to a strong side from Bristol University.
The young team played with intensity and skill from the off, putting Wotton’s defence under continuous pressure from the start, with Wotton conceding after the ball failed to be cleared from the goal line. 
But the team galvanised towards the end of the first half with creative play from Ellie Stimpson, Cessy Tyne and Sharron Bates threatened the circle, but the half time whistle blew before a shot on goal or a short corner could be awarded.
The second half saw the University attack continually pressuring the defence. 
It was to the credit of Wotton’s defensive line of Jane Hardwick, Rebecca Jones, Sophie Adamson, Cathy York and joint player of the match Myra Patterson that the score line was kept to two conceded.
Heather Reid and Sharron Bates troubled the Bristol Uni defence on several occasions, forcing errors. 
The other joint player of the match Ellie Stimpson worked hard in the middle, and Cessy Tyne impressed with both skill and grit throughout this tough fixture.
