WOTTON dominated the game from the first whistle, with Henry Collins weaving through the away team’s defence from the half-way line to slot a shot past the keeper within two minutes of push-back.
Cleevillians upped their game after the host’s early goal, but the thirds were on form, effortlessly shifting the ball around the back and storming up the field when opportunities arose. A consistent stream of goals from Rich Watts, Chris Barton and Dave Holt left the score at half-time 6-0.
The Blues exploded into the second-half with the forwards relentlessly pressuring the visitor’s back four.
Once again Wotton’s high fitness levels shone through, creating countless opportunities in the opponents half.
Finishing became a slight issue however, with lots of close attempts on goal.
Nonetheless, Sam Butter was added to the score sheet with both Barton and Holt scoring three apiece.
A late decision to bring keeper Dan Dyson off for an 11th outfield player, due to him not having touched the ball all game, gave Cleevillians a chance to gain a consolation goal, however it provided many more options in attack.
An overall outstanding performance with hat-trick scorer Dave Holt voted as man of the match for brilliant skills and play-making in midfield.
