North Leigh 3 Tytherington Rocks 1

IN wet and windy conditions, Tytherington Rocks came away holding their heads high after giving North Leigh a close game despite the score.

With Rocks giving a debut to winger Marcies Smith who for most of the game caused problems down the right flank with his speed and ability, however his crosses were not converted to goals and for much of the game Rocks failed to find the finish that was needed.

North Leigh took the lead in the thirty fifth minute when a cross from the right found Mark Dennis inside the box to fire home past keeper Daniel Worton, a further set back for the Rocks came within a minute when a through ball beat their defenders and Alfie Saunders cooly slotted home from the edge of he penalty box to put the home side in control two nil up at half time.

Rocks manager Nigel Gaston had to change the team at HT due to an injury to defender Billy Bonds bringing Oliver Rawnsley from the left wing back to fullback, Moving striker Jordy Connolly to left midfield and bringing on another new signing Elliott Gardner as central striker.

As the game progressed the weather conditions had got much worse and it was difficult to see one side of the pitch from the other, however play continued at a fierce pace and Rocks came close to reducing the deficit on a couple of occasions, but in the seventy fifth minute the home side went further in front when a short clearance from the keeper was intercepted by Ryan Lewis who slotted the ball home for number three.

Substitute Mahad Ali came on with ten minutes to go and from a cross on the right by Smith hammered the ball into the top left of the goal giving the home keeper Kane Lewis little chance of saving it to make the score more in keeping with the amount of play that The Rocks had during the whole game.

Rocks play Hook Norton at home on Saturday 21st November KO 3pm.
