WOTTON-UNDER-EDGE stormed to their second 11-goal victory in as many weeks as their incredible season in the Conference North League continued unabated.

Last week, Wotton put 11 past Hereford at home, and, this time, Lydney were the ones to suffer – and at Lydney to boot!

Wotton started strong and were able to maintain dominance throughout the match.

Dave Newns, accompanied by a mature display from Michael Buist, controlled the game, coupled with good movement in wide channels and upfront by Wotton’s forward line, who were able to create chances throughout the match.

Match-day skipper Buist opened his account for the season with an early tap in from a short corner.

Harry Willcox doubled the tally with a first goal of his hat- trick.

Wotton played the ball around the pitch nicely, with Ash Lingham continuing his fine scoring form in recent weeks by finishing from close range.

There was a brief moment of concern for Wotton when the home team broke through the Wotton defence but their chance to score was denied by Jago Cropper on the goal line.

With the score at 4-0 at half-time, the Wotton team turned the screw in the second half and were able to add a further seven goals.

Newns and Matt Fairburn both finished well from the top of the D with strikes that the great Wall of China would have difficulty in stopping.

Top goal-scorer Ryan Howarth added two more to his tally and Andy Edwards also joined the party with a well-taken goal.

Despite the scoring rout, centre back Henry Patteson took home the Man of the Match award as he marshalled the play well.

It was a good team performance, which lays the foundation for a big clash at home to third-placed Bath Buccaneers on Saturday.
