IT has been a good 2016 so far for Yate Town, and manager Craig Laird hopes to continue in the same vein when the club entertain high-flyers North Leigh on Saturday.
Yate, who have won twice this month against Larkhall Athletic and AFC Totton with three other games – two in the league and one in the cup – being postponed due to the weather, will be looking to go one better than a 1-1 draw in their previous meeting at North Leigh this season.
Laird said it would be good to keep up the momentum of those wins but is happy that, after a run of six defeats and two draws between October 27 and December 5, Yate have recorded three draws over Christmas to add to their January wins against Larkhall and Totton.
The manager said: “We are unbeaten in five games. It is a shame that a couple of games have been called off but it has given us a chance to rest a couple of players.”
