Thornbury Running Club

IN a wet, windy week there were few races to tempt Thornbury Running Club members, though three took part in the Aztec West Fast 5k last Tuesday.

Janet Gaze was the only club member to complete all four races in the series, with consistent times from 26.36 to 27.03minutes and finishing on Tuesday in a good round 27 minutes exactly.

Matt Johnstone was the first Thornbury runner to finish in 19.02minutes, with Rob Hopkins half a minute behind in 19.37.

Little Stoke parkrun drew four club runners to the venue. Garry Slater was again the quickest over the 5k course in 18.55minutes, with Kevin Cundy having a good run and crossing the line in 22.25mins.

Lynne Turner’s second parkrun was not quite as quick as her first (31.45 minutes) but first-timer Rebecca Taylor had a good run to complete the course in 27.58.

At Chipping Sodbury, Anne Palmer again took the voluntary role of tail runner so recording a time of 42.08mins as she supported the slower participants at the back of the field in the parkrun.
