COTSWOLD Edge Golf Club members have been making the most of the sunny spring weather amongst the showers recently.

The Senior Section kicked off their friendly matches winning at home 5 – 2 against Gloucester but were less fortunate in their visit to Chipping Sodbury where they lost 5.5 – 1.5.

Two re-scheduled stroke play competitions took place – the March Midweek Medal was won by Simon Craker who returned an under par nett 68 score followed by Keith Stokes 70 and Stuart Crabtree 70 and the Seniors March Medal – Division 1: Graham Shute nett 72 followed by Roger Moss 72 and Keith Stokes 73; Division 2: Pete Greatbach 74, Roger Johnson 75 & Richard Coward 75.

The April Medal was well supported and was a qualifier for the County Medal. Richard Rogers and Les Truby won their respective divisions to go forward to the final at Minchinhampton Golf Club on Wednesday 6th July.

Division 1: Richard Rogers nett 68, Sean Fryer 71 & James Page 72; Division 2: Richard Beale 73, Dave Ash 75 & Shaun Chappell 76; Division 3: Les Truby 70, Malcolm Prickett 71 & Kevin Morgan 71.

The Ladies Section competed in the Australian Spoons pairs stableford qualifier – Mary Brealey & Pat Waring scored 29 points and go through to the final at Thornbury on Tuesday 19 July.

Runners up were Caroline Stokes & Mary Kowalczyk with 27 points and Heather Morgan & Jacki Emmerson 23. Heather Morgan won the EWGA Medal stroke play competition with nett 77 followed by Bet Gazzard 79 & Angela Ryan 79.

The first mixed competition of the year – the Beere Mug Trophy was won by John & Bet Gazzard with 35 stableford points closely followed by Terry Pearce & Hannah Brown-Pearce 34 and Graham Woodlands & Janet Malone 34.
