Combination Cup Quarter final

DURSLEY seconds are through to the semi-finals of the Combination Cup and have kept the club's remarkable treble triumph ambitions going after the firsts and thirds won their respective cup titles.

Dursley dominated having large amounts of possession and territory. The Dursley pack and in particular the backrow dominated the breakdown and carried hard into the opposition.

Lack of composure, and soft penalties in the red zone lead to Dursley failing to convert pressure into points, keeping the home side in the game. Until on the quarter mark after more hard carrying and penetration from the forwards, man of the match, scrum half Sam Pinker spotted a gap on the fringe and darted past the Cirencester defence to open the scoring.

Cirencester then started to gain some possession and some pattern to their game allowing them to come back at Dursley, who had to defend well for periods close to their own line.

However it was a mistake from Dursley in the Cirencester 22 that allowed the home side to break away and score just before half time, this was converted to give the home side a slender 7-5 lead at the half.

The 2nd half carried much the same as 1st, Dursley carrying hard in the forwards and Cirencester trying to use their wide backs.

Pressure went back and forth with game up for grabs from either side throughout the half. Both side rang the changes in the 2nd half, Dursley however seemed to be more effective and in the last 15 minutes Dursley gained more possession and started to press hard.

The Dursley pack exerted more dominance over the home side and executed a number of impressive drivesdeep in to the heart of the opposition.

Late in the half still 2 points down, Dursley thought they had the important score, with Andy Plumridge diving over from close range only to be adjudged held up by the referee.

This then lead to a 5 yard scrum with only minutes left on the clock for Dursley to win the game.

After a series of reset scrums Number 8 Camm picked and powered over despite close attention from the defence for with 2 minutes to go would turn out to be the winning score in a close hard fought game by both sides.
