FRAMPTON United will have to play the waiting game to find out whether they finish the Gloucestershire County League season in second place.

Whether they stay in that position is down to third-placed Thornbury Town.

Frampton did all they were asked to do as they completed their 32nd and final match with a bang as they hammered mid-table Ellwood 6-0 away from home on Saturday.

Lewis Wilton gave Frampton the lead on 30 minutes and they went 2-0 up just before the break with a second goal from Myron Turner. Wilton then netted his second on the hour mark and ten minutes later Myron Turner made it 4-0 from the penalty spot.

Steve Jackson chipped in with the fifth on 75 minutes and Minola Marquez Espada rounded it of five minutes from the end.

It means that Frampton are now three points ahead of third-placed Thornbury Town, having won 19 matches and drawn eight in their campaign.

But Thornbury have two games in hand on United although those are by no means ‘given’ wins as they play fourth-placed Henbury on Saturday and finish off their season at home to Rockleaze Rangers, who are currently fifth in the table.

AEK Boco were presented with the league title on Saturday after their 1-0 home win over Hardwicke.
