WEEK two of the Marstons Slimbridge Summer Skittle League saw the Geriatrics move to the top of the table after a 21-pin over The Bowmen who remain without a point to date.

The Bowmen took the game all the way to their opponents.

Chas Vincent and Paul Day both scored 57, the latter hitting a 14-spare, however it was not quite enough as a score of 65 from Mark Harris, his total including a 13 and 14 spare, along with a 14 spare from Jim Williams saw the Geriatrics take a slender five-pin first half lead.

The second half saw Nigel Winfield commence with a14-spare in his total of 61, whilst Howard Stockman hit a 16-spare as the Geriatrics managed to remain in front.

Despite Alan Dimery scoring 57 for the Bowmen it was not quite enough as the winners took the second half by 16-pins to take maximum points.

The Cambridge Crew picked up their first win of the season in a close game against Slimbridge Royal British Legion.

Despite trailing after the first three legs an 11-spare from Sarah Garrard in her total of 59 pulled the eventual winners to within one pin of their opponents. Margaret Ball hit 54 for Slimbridge RBL, as did Beth Lord her total including a nine-spare as the game moved into the final leg of the first half with the Cambridge Crew holding a slender two-pin advantage.

A score of seven from Samantha Tarr saw the first half tied with each team collecting a point.

The second half saw the Cambridge Crew take an early lead which they held on to despite Trudy Barnfield scoring 54 for Slimbridge RBL.

Rob Wytchard hit 56 for the winners as they took the half by 11-pins to collect five points.

Shake Hands picked up their first win of the season as they collected maximum points in a 21-pin victory over The Dons.

Despite losing the first leg, a 13-spare from Pete Dykes in his total of 59, along with a nine-spare from Andy Langdown help the winners to a nine-pin first half lead.

This came despite Mark Stamp hitting 56 for The Dons, his total including a 14-spare.

The second half was also a close affair with just two-pins between the two teams after five legs.

However, in the sixth leg, Shake Hands managed to pull away despite Mark Price scoring 57 for The Dons, it was Robert Sims who hit 61 for Shake Hands to see his team home by 12-pins.

In another close game, Snorts FC picked up their second victory of the season as they defeated the Unknowns by 12-pins.

With Gareth Markey hitting 59 the winners held a slender lead all the way through the first half until the last leg. looking set for a first half lead Ian Lyons hit a 15-spare for The Unknowns, whilst Nathan Vines followed up with a score of nine in his total of 59 to tie the half.

The second half followed a similar patter as the eventual winners opened up a slender lead which this time they held on to, John Handley hitting a 62.
