COTSWOLD Edge Golf Club members have been taking advantage of the good weather with some impressive scores under par scores being returned recently in a variety of competitions.

Club captain Graham Woodlands and partner Barrie Roberts scored 46 points to win the Lawson Trophy Pairs Stableford Better Ball competition from Sandra Cutts and Catherine Beale 45 and Simon Read and Steve Gore 44. Chris Young won the Rover Cup, a strokeplay competition for both men and ladies with a nett score of 66.

Division 1: Chris Young 66, Vern Chappell 67 and Roger Fay 67; Division 2: Glynn Briggs 66, Roger Bryant 67 and Tracy Tomlin 69; Division 3: John Anderson 67, Mike Harvey 73 and Cliff Coles 74. Ladies: Jacki Emerson nett 75, Sandra Cutts 75 and Ali Buncher 78.

Meanwhile at the club, Bank Holiday Monday saw members compete in the three club competitions which was a stableford competition where you can only use three clubs, with one of these clubs being a putter.

The men’s winner was Dave Waring scored 38 points from Vince Taylor 36 and Warren Pendred 35 whilst Ladies winner Mel Lee scored 32 points followed by Jane Barrett 30 and Sue Reid 30. The June Medal was hotly contested both in terms of competition and the temperature with a good turn out. Division 1: Matt Jagucki nett 70, Hobie Lamb 71 and Martin Charles 73; Division 2: Kim Sharp 66, Warren Pendred 66 and Paul Blackwell 70; Division 3: Jack Pearce 70, Andrew Clout 71 and Brendan Turbitt 71. Meanwhile, Simon Craker won the June Midweek Medal with a nett 73 shot which was a three shot victory from John Newns 76.

Newns was a shot ahead of Twister Taylor 77. The Ladies Medal was won by Hannah Brown-Pearce with a nett round of 68.

Brown-Pearce was followed three shots behind in the tournament by Jacki Emerson and Sarah Tyler who both hit rounds of 71.
