Rockhampton CC 116/6 beat Burbage & Easton Royal 115 all out by 4 Wkts

Rockhampton got back to winning ways on Saturday with a comfortable four wicket victory over Burbage & Easton Royal.

Having won the toss, Rockhampton bowled with great control and accuracy on a slightly questionable pitch and other than a wayward start and a frustrating end to the innings, were exceptional throughout as from 41/1 Burbage collapsed to 75/9 as Willoughby (3/22), Cartlidge (2/23), Wakefield (2/30) and McCabe (2/16) did most of the damage along with some excellent catching. However the final wicket added 40 to the score to see Burbage post 115 before losing their final wicket in the 44th over.

In response, Rockhampton got off to a disastrous start losing Matt Tyler and Rowan Cartlidge early and were left in the precarious position of 5/2 but Will Tyler and Jamie Wakefield managed to steady the ship with a patient partnership of 57 before Wakefield fell for 24 with the score now on 62/3. Despite a slight collapse to 81/5, contributions from Will Tyler (29), Rob Belbin (21), Will Cullimore (14) allowed Harry Collins to hit the winning runs in the 37th over to see the visitors to victory, gaining 19 points on the way.

Sunday saw Rockhampton travel to Bedminster in The County Cup and following an incredible spell from Will Cartlidge of 6 for 6, the hosts were blown away for just 87. Rockhampton chased the total quite comfortably in just 18 overs with Will Cullimore top scoring with 42.

This weekend, Rockhampton host Biddestone on Saturday, 12:30 and welcome Welsh side Miskin Manor to The Boundary Field on Sunday in the last 32 of The National Village Knockout.
