Gloucestershire County League Division Two

Frampton-on-Severn 215 all out beat Stone 87 all out by 128 runs

A RESOLUTE innings from Dave Jones saved Stone from what could have been a disastrously low total in their Gloucestershire County League Division Two clash with Frampton-On-Severn at the weekend.

As it happened, Frampton won by 128 runs in what was a rather big game for both sides in a four-cornered relegation battle.

The win saw Frampton go a point clear of Stone, who are now in bottom but one position with two teams to go down.

Stone skipper Pete Lavis won the toss and put Frampton into bat. And, after taking the first four wickets to go fairly cheaply, thanks to some excellent bowling from Ian Hall, it was turning into a good contest.

However, the middle order dug in with opener Craig Barnfield, who went on to make 51 before he was caught out off Hall’s bowling. And, with the tail wagging a bit, Frampton finished on 216 all out.

It was a challenging target for Stone but they failed to get even close to the home total. Everyone other than Jones and the extras went for single figure scores, with four ducks in the innings.

Jones was on 45 when his stumps were skittled, and finished in 26.4 overs with Stone on just 87 which included 17 extras.
