ANOTHER glorious day, another glorious Thornbury wicket but things didn’t start too well against Frampton-on-Severn for Thornbury second team.

Marcus Wormwell lost the toss and was asked to take to the field first.

However the decision did not seem to faze opening bowlers Tom Bradley and Luke Franklin.

Franklin in particular bowling with true venom on a lively pitch causing the Frampton batsmen constant problems and was first to strike as Barnfield was caught.

Bradley removed North caught behind and then Frampton opener and skipper Driver-Dickenson had to retire hurt.

Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals and, at 70-6, Frampton looked in serious trouble but Dickenson (51) returned and found more determined partners in Peacey (19), Millin (28) and Curtis (15).

Frampton were all out for 169.

The Thornbury reply took a somewhat similar pattern as Wormwell dominated proceedings but saw partners come and go.

With Drury, Tunnicliffe and Pete Wheeler back in the hutch it took a solid partnership between Wormwell and Tom Wheeler to calm a few nerves and edge Thornbury towards victory.

However both were out, and Hammond hobbled to the wicket to join Bradley and the pair showed cool heads to secure the win.
