IT was fun in the sun for the Ladies Fun Day at Cotswold Edge Golf Club recently.

Teams of three took part in a Bowmaker Waltz competition, taking one score on the first hole, two scores on the second and three scores on the third and so on. There were lots of prizes and additional competitions to enter together with a raffle to win a brand new golf bag.

The winning team were Gill Polley, Anne Crawley and Brenda Alway with 79 points followed by Mel Lee, Julie Cruickshank and organiser Angela Ryan 78 and Lynda Pearce, June Hanson & Michelle Craker 77.

Dennis Goodbrand and Bob Hobbs served welcome refreshments in the halfway house and entered into the spirit of the day dressing up in pastel outfits for the occasion!

Competitors also enjoyed a meal in the clubhouse afterwards. The Over 70s Vintage Open fielded a large entry, they were less fortunate with the weather with competitors dodging the showers but some very good scores were returned in the stableford competition from both visiting and home players.

Peter Thomas from Bowood took the honours in the visitors prizes with 42 points from Alan Walton (Upavon) 39 and Mike Courteney (Marlborough) 39, home winners were Tom Baird 40 points, John Downes 37 & Twister Taylor 37.

Dan Johnson won the Bevington Bowl stableford competition with an impressive 42 points and was rewarded with a two shot handicap cut alongside the trophy!

Results. Division 1: Alan Parnell 40 points, Mark Harris 38 & Chris Young 37; Division 2: Dan Johnson 42, Barry Thompson 37 & Tracy Tomlin 34; Division 3: Steve Gore 42, Robin Oakley 39 & Barrie Roberts 35.

The re-scheduled Ladies Spring Cup, a stableford competition run over two alternate days to enable working ladies to take part was won by Ali Buncher with an under par 39 points from Debbie Pringle 37 & Sue Reid 36.

The Seniors enjoyed their visit to Clevedon winning 4.5 to 2.5 on the day.
