THE FOREST of Dean AC Blaisdon 10K took place on Tuesday July 19 as part of the Gloucestershire 3AAA Road Series.

It attracted some serial runners from Dursley in Alice Lewis, Annette Heylings, Damian Lai and Dave Saunders, all hoping to get some useful points in the series.

The race is an out and back with a climb to the 5K mark and then a descent home, unlike cycling running downhill can be as tiring as the uphill!

It was a good night for Dursley with Saunders first in his category, Lewis second FV55, Lai fourth M35; and Heylings sixth FV60.

Alice Lewis is being given a run for her money by Alison Lane this year but continues to put in great performances with her run over this difficult 10K being only a minute off her PB Results: Dave Saunders 46th (1st MV65) 47:25; Alice Lewis 50th 47:30 (2nd FV55); Damian Lai 89th (4th M35) 55:20; Annette Heylings 106th (6th FV60) 59:17 Kingsway Parkrun saw Gareth Bradbury and Joe Ball at the front end battling it out for the honour of being fastest DRC runner of the weekend.

The competition was won by Ball who ran a personal best of 19:40, (first Sm18-19) with Bradbury just 17 seconds behind (second VM40).

The run saw Antony Ball slowly returning to form after being side lined with injury, Nicki Cowle again showed that returning from injury in a sensible and progressive fashion makes a big difference with another personal best.

At Chipping Sodbury, Charlotte Strickland ran a PB and was third SW20. DRC’s junior athletes did well with Oliver Norris leading in the U11s at Kingsway and Ethan Mathews doing the same at Huntingdon.

All in all 18 DRC, members ran parkrun over the weekend.
